Re: women in the emerging church. This is a huge issue for me, one of the reasons I left the CMA.

In my limited personal experience at emergent congregations, I know that Church of the Apostles in Seattle is pastored by a woman, and the music is directed by a woman; but where are the voices of women in the national conversation?

My larger fear is that while the emergent conversation seems to be treading new ground, it will largely prove to be relevant only for a small subset of the population, like white Americans under 35. Adding more diverse voices is important.

Dana … thank-you as well. Penetrating article … although all three parties … CBE, CBMW and Van Leeuwan were not speaking to my issue, the manner in which the politics of egalitarianism malforms us for reconciliation … in this case in relation to gender relations.
